Lullaby

This has been published already elsewhere, but I thought I’d add it to the blog. RIP Sparky.  Welcome, Lizzie.

Hush little baby, don’t you cry,
Mama’s gonna sing you a lullaby.
And if that lullaby don’t soothe
Mama’s gonna baff till your fur’s all smooth.
And if that baff don’t pacify,
Mama’s gonna wait till John drops by.
And if that John can’t make you sleep
Mama’s gonna teach you to count up sheep.
And if those sheep don’t grant your wish,
Mama’s gonna fetch you a Chickenfish.
So hush little baby, don’t you fuss.
Uncle’s watching over us.

Hush little baby, go to sleep,
Mama’s gonna give you her heart to keep
And if that heart’s so full of love,
Mama’s gonna sing to the Moon above,
And if that song can reach that far,
Mama’s gonna tell her to light your star.
And if that star shines diamond bright,
Mama’s gonna kiss you every night.
So hush little baby, say goodbye
A new world awaits you beyond the sky.
Go little baby, we won’t fuss
Because you’ll be watching over us.

Hush little sister, don’t you cry
Mama’s gonna keep you warm and dry.
And if you need her she will come
To feed you milk and wash your bum.
So rest, little sister, it’s not so dire
That you have to yell like the bed’s on fire.
And John will keep you safe from harm
So stop kicking off like a car alarm.
I miss you, sister, but I’m okay –
I’ve lots of friends and I’m off to play,
So grow up strong and make mama proud
Be bold, be brave….but not so loud.
